Aberdeen Science Centre (ASC)
Since partnering with Aberdeen Science Centre at the Celebrate Aberdeen event and parade in August 2016, EC-OG has been committed to continuing this partnership.
EC-OG is enthusiastic about supporting Aberdeen Science Centre as a mean of promoting STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics).
Actively seeking to encourage more young people to become involved in engineering in Aberdeen and surrounding areas, the partnership sees EC-OG becoming involved in events and activities.
As a company that is focused primarily upon engineering and technology, EC-OG has a team of experts who are willing to share their engineering acumen within the Science Centre programme schedule.
Aberdeen Young Professionals
Aberdeen Young Professionals (AYP) was founded in 2009 as an organisation which seeks to connect young professionals in Aberdeen. The organisation allows young people to network and to make valuable connections.
Heather Sharkey and Robert Cowman, Commercial Director and Engineering Director respectively, put themselves forward to act as mentors in the Aberdeen Young professionals mentoring scheme. Reflecting upon their own experiences, they push and guide these young people towards business excellence.
eRally, a small Fife-based company, are set to be the creators of the world’s first electric rally championship. Focusing on the juniors’ category, eRally looks to encourage the next generation’s interest in motorsport as well as sparking an interest for the technology behind electric cars.
EC-OG are particularly attracted to supporting eRally as there are many technological transfers and lessons to be learned from the automotive industry. This is particularly true with regard to battery technology.
eRally’s Renault Zoe car has received praise in motorsport circles including support from the UK motorsport’s governing body (the MSA) and was featured in an article in Autocar magazine.
EC-OG are pleased to be supporting the North East Trail Centre Organisation (NETCO).
Through this partnership, EC-OG will provide NETCO with invaluable business advice and guidance. Since establishing the high growth engineering services company in 2013, the team at EC-OG have developed a wealth of entrepreneurial experience. This entrepreneurial background will be very helpful to NETCO who are in the early stages of bringing a large, high quality mountain bike trail centre to the North East. This trail centre would bring an easily accessible and fun activity to the area to encourage people to explore the outdoors.
Formed as a charity in April 2015, the NETCO vision has been sculpted by a group of enthusiastic volunteers. Prompted by a gap in trail centres in the North East, the keen mountain bikers came together to discuss the prospect of making it a reality. Over a year on, significant progress has been made. The team has set up a website (http://www.netcomtb.co.uk/) and has succeeded in raising some much needed funding to go towards site feasibility studies. Other fundraising avenues are being considered, including events and sponsorship.
